About Calyn

I am a Master's Candidate in Medicine in Bioethics and Health law at the University of Witwatersrand. I am particularly interested in understanding how technology can and is assisting in alleviating burdens in healthcare and civil society. I graduated with an Honours degree in Justice and Transformation at the University of Cape Town (UCT) and also holds an undergraduate degree in Politics and International relations from UCT. In addition, she finished an online short course on Unconscious Bias in Medicine from the University of Stanford. I was also a Trainee Facilitators Mentee at the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR) & Pan-African Reconciliation Network (PAREN). Ultimately, I want to use my experience in the civic-tech space and interest in emerging technologies to explore and help patients understand and manage their healthcare data.
