Case Management

Helping Advice Offices

work better

through digitization

Our primary goal is to create a digital system that makes Case Workers' jobs easier and more impactful. Our secondary goal is to provide CAOSA and their CAOs with access to better data.

About this project

A digital system will make it easier for Community Advice Officers to manage large amounts of information, track clients, and make paralegals more efficient and effective. This in turn will have a huge impact on access to justice for poor rural South Africans who cannot access private legal services.

We ran an intensive user research process with a group of ten Case Workers in order to design a system that suits the needs of real users. We then developed an MVP of the system and iteratively improved it based on user feedback. The next step is to roll out the system to all of CAOSA's over 200 advice offices across South Africa.

Users have access to a digital case management system so they no longer have to use a paper-based one. This means they can access their cases from anywhere, not just the office. It also means that their files are safer than if they were stored at an office.

You can demo the system here.
