Police officer deaths are on the decline

Despite increasing levels of crime, the number of police deaths has decreased dramatically in the past 5 years. The reasons isn't clear although the tenure of each police commissioner, labelled below, suggests that the decrease in murders picked up steam during Riah Phiyega's watch.
